Nike SB has created a sneaker that represents many things about China especially Beijing. Every detail of the sneaker is actually based on Chinese culture from its color up to the design. This Nike SB Dunk Mid simply tells a lot of things about China.This Nike SB Dunk Mid is actually created by collaborating with two other brands namely, Triumvir which is a lifestyle company, and flystreetwear which is a China based skate shop. The upper of this sneaker is created with different types of leather including the cracked like leather on the side panel which represents the traffic jammed highway in China, the smooth white leather on front and side of the toe box which depicts a Chinese using a dust mask, and the patterned leather on the back and the strap which is inspired from Beijing's expressway and noodles Nike Dunk Mid Pro SB A.K.A. MANEKI NEKO . Even the red insole lining and Nike swoosh, and the sewn yellow SB on the strap represents the color of China’s flag.

For the first time in the lifespan of Triumvir, Brian and I were given a chance and a concept by an outside source (Nike) to design a shoe. The inspiration and concept of the shoe was based on “a Beijing native’s perspective of their own city, with the slogan skate towards Tienanmen Square.” The Nike Dunk Mid is going to be a special edition for fly’s Beijing shop and the first Nike shoe ever to be named after China’s great northern metropolis, “Beijing.” We were asked to incorporate the following categories of what Beijing is known for into the design of the shoe: dust, traffic, highways, noodles, Tienanmen Square, and the capital of China.
